In this week we are going to,

Correcting Color Cast with channels in levels

This photo is taken in the evening light, which was very warm light, nearly orange. Don't know if it's still too orange tone in it. So the color correction is made by using channels of the levels palette. Those you may see on the right side. I also find black and white spots using threshold adjustment layer and checked the colors with black and white pipets. Then it's having some high pass sharpening. The areas around nose, teeth and ears were still too dark, so that's why I add new history brush layer and used soft brush in a screen mode for lightening those parts of the image.

Here's the corrected version after Susa pointed out that my first correction was too green. Thank you Susa.

Teeth Whitening

This image is having several corrections. It's cropped out from a bigger image using rule of thirds. Then I made a selection for the teeth using magnetic lasso tool. Did add hue/saturation adjustment layer and using also channels to remove some yellow from the teeth. The skin is having many acne spots and those I remove using clone tool on a new layer. (sample all layers checked) Then tonal correction using layers (threshold, black and white spots) I did still like to have some contrast to eyes. So I merged layers Shift+alt/optio+Cmd/Ctr+N and still holding others changing N to E. Opening history palette made a snapshot and clicking to left side of the image. Then selecting history brush and in a screen mode I painted the eyes little lighter. This time I made sharpening using Smart Blur as you can see from the screenshot. That did blur a bit the skin, but sharpen the edges.
I found a Smart Blur tutorial from Russel Brown and like to try it to this image.

The first image is original, then teeth whitening + smart blur sharpening, last image is having teeth whiten + surface blur sharpening.

As I've been lazing whole the summer I'm now trying to listen all the podcasts they have publish on that time.
Still having 64 un listened. :)

Well found a surface blur tutorial from Matt Kloskowsky. I also add some more color to Fia's golden teeth decoration.

Change a color of an object

In this color change project I made in two parts and did use two different kind of technic. First I made a selection of the sky by using magic wand tool and did change that to mask and did add the people, basket and that fire just painting with black to the mask. Then I made a copy of a layer and did use Image > Adjustment > Replace Color several times.

I think the colors I choose weren't the best choice. It's looking a bit unnatural. when white stripes of the balloon has changed light pink, but as you see I'm having the idea of using this tool.

Then made a copy of a layer Cmd+ J and changed the selection to inverse Cmd+I and add Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Look the screenshot's below.
